Complimentary parking is available for patients, guests and other visitors in our visitor parking garage. Valet parking is provided free only to handicap persons with a valid handicap permit. Valet parking is available to patients, guests and other visitors for a $3 fee. Be sure to inform hospital staff prior to surgery, if you have a latex allergy. Jewish Hospital strives to be latex safe. Important Reminders The day before surgery, do not eat or drink anything, including water, after midnight unless instructed otherwise by your physician. You may continue to take any medications only if advised by your physician or surgeon. Please bring the Surgery Schedule/Physicians Orders card and any papers your physician has given you. Also, bring a list of all medications you are taking, including the name of the prescription, the dosage and the frequency, to show the physician. If you are diabetic, dont forget to consult with your doctor on receiving insulin injections. Talk with your physician so that you fully understand the surgical procedure. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that can be easily stored during the procedure. Do not wear makeup, fingernail or toenail polish. Do not bring any valuables with you, including large amounts of cash, earrings, chains or watches. Take a full bath with antibacterial soap and wash your hair the night before surgery. If the procedure is being performed on a child, bring a favorite toy or blanket for the child, along with a complete change of clothing. Should you experience any change in your physical condition, please contact your physician immediately. Be sure to bring your insurance card(s) and authorization and referral forms. After Your Operation If you are not going to be admitted to the hospital after surgery, please have a responsible adult available to drive you home. For your safety, we also advise having someone stay with you for 24 hours following the procedure. We will not allow anyone who has received anesthetic medication or sedatives to leave the hospital alone. Before going home, you will be given a complete list of post-operative instructions to follow. The discharge nurse will review these instructions with you and answer any questions you may have.
