Informatics

Jewish Hospital is committed to exploring and deploying the latest technology available to enhance patient outcomes and patient and team member satisfaction. Our MedAdmin system enhances patient safety through the use of barcode verification technology at the point of care.  Utilizing a wireless scanner, the nurse scans the patient’s ID band and medications.  Bedside monitors display verification of the five rights and provide information to the nurse on potential drug interactions and allergies.

Jewish Hospital has a Bed Management System from Teletracking® that allows Admissions, Bed Control, Environmental, and Transport to efficiently manage and expedite patient flow to provide the best care for our patients. Jewish is in the process of implementing the IntelliVue Clinical Information Portfolio (ICIP) which provides clinical decision support with comprehensive documentation while integrating information from bedside devices for a complete medical record.

These applications and bedside devices, in addition to mobile carts and computers at the nursing station, give the nurse the flexibility to document in a variety of settings.  These devices also provide access to digital radiography images, policy and procedure manuals, patient education materials, annual competency training, on-line literature search capabilities and access to online journals.
