U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals Names Jewish Hospital Orthopaedics Top 50 in the Nation

Louisville, KY. . . Jewish Hospital received recognition from the U.S. News & World Report as one of America’s Best Hospital’s for Orthopaedics. Jewish Hospital was among the Top 50 hospitals in the nation. “We are very pleased to be recognized as a leader in the industry. We have focused on our partnerships with the University of Louisville School of Medicine and private physicians to become premier providers of this service and stand above the rest,” said Joanne Berryman, senior vice president of Jewish Hospital HealthCare Services. “The obvious goal of treatment is to help patients return to a normal life to the greatest extent possible,” said Kim Hite, assistant vice president for Jewish Hospital Orthopaedics. “With the multidisciplinary team approach from rehab nursing to physical and occupational therapists provided by Frazier Rehab Institute, the quality of care orthopaedic patients receive is outstanding. We are exceptionally proud to be the first hospital in Kentucky to obtain magnet nursing status.” U.S. News & World Reports ranked hospitals in three categories: · Reputation · Mortality statistics and · Hospital volume, nursing proficiency, availability of key technologies and patient/community services. According to the U.S. News & World Report, the hospitals selected are often referral centers, because their physicians see sicker patients and do higher volumes of complicated procedures. They follow advance treatment guidelines, conduct research that migrates from labs and computer databases to the bedside and take advantage of improvements in imaging, surgical devices and other technologies. To be considered for this acknowledgement, hospitals have to meet a series of progressively tougher standards to be ranked satisfying as least one of three requirements: membership in the Council of Teaching Hospitals, medical school affiliation or availability of at least nine of 17 key technology related services. Jewish Hospital is an internationally renowned high-tech specialty center, developing leading-edge advancements in heart and lung care, hand and microsurgery, rehab medicine, sports medicine, orthopaedics, neuroscience, occupational health, organ transplantation, outpatient care, plastic and aesthetic surgery, and primary care. ###
