MCS Provides Physicals to
High School Students
Aside from delivering quality
care to Bullitt County residents,
Jewish Hospital Medical Center
South (MCS) is a community
partner in many other aspects. For the
past three years, in conjunction with
Jewish Hospital Sports Medicine (JHSM),
MCS has provided physicals to local high
school students.
On a Saturday morning in May, about 300 students from Bullitt Central, Bullitt East and North Bullitt came to MCS for a physical. Staff from the MCS Emergency Department (ED), Laboratory and other areas, and doctors and certified athletic trainers from JHSM, came together to conduct the physicals.
The physicals occur before school lets out to get students ready for summer training for fall sports. All students who participate in athletics are required to have a yearly physical. MCS provides the service to schools for free, but each athletic department usually charges a small fee and uses it as a fundraising opportunity.
“Our goal at MCS is to be a community partner, and these physicals are another way for us to meet that goal and help out the local schools,” said Carrie Dodson, R.N., manager of the MCS ED.
