Sleep Better Tonight!
The Sleep Disorders Center
Offers Testing, Treatment

The Sleep Disorders Center at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital has relocated to provide patients with an even higher level of comfort in a home-like environment. Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the center treats all types of sleep disorders, including sleep apnea and narcolepsy, and is equipped to meet the special needs of patients who are obese or disabled.

What to Expect

The Sleep Disorders Center is open seven nights a week and features curbside, well-lit parking. The warmly decorated rooms are designed to feel like home, with private restrooms, digital HDTV, a comfortable chair for lounging and a newspaper in the morning.

Many patients who come to the center are experiencing symptoms of sleep disorders, including:

  • Restlessness
  • Choking
  • Morning headaches
  • Daytime fatigue
At the center, they are observed, tested and treated by a sleep specialist. Testing may include a sleep study, or polysomnogram. This electrophysiologic procedure records a variety of body functions during sleep, including the electrical activity of the brain, eye movement, muscle activity, heart rate, breathing and blood oxygen levels. Board certified physicians specializing in sleep medicine read all sleep studies performed at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. The Sleep Disorders Center works closely with referring physicians to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Support Group Available

Community education is another component of the Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital Sleep Disorders Center. The center co-sponsors the A.W.A.K.E. support group for sleep apnea patients and their families and participates in community health fairs. Speakers are also available to discuss topics related to sleep disorders.
