Partnerships - UofL, Bellarmine, Jefferson County Public Schools and southern Indiana Public Schools
The initial partnership began with the University of Louisville in 1997, and has since become a national sports medicine model for collegiate sports. This comprehensive program originated to join the needs of a successful metropolitan university with the expertise of a world-class medical center specializing in hand and microsurgery, cardiovascular programs and research, transplantation and rehab care. It is through this initial partnership that the Sports Medicine program has continued to grow and improve in its services. Focusing on more than just injuries and pre-season physicals, the program
has evolved into an extensive array of The success of the partnership with the University of Louisville led
to four additional agreements; with Bellarmine University, Doss High School
Magnet Career Academy, Louisville Male Traditional High School and Dupont
Manual High School. At Bellarmine University, the partnership extends its services to nearly 300 athletes over 16 intercollegiate teams. This arrangement is designed to facilitate preventive care for all student athletes, as well as assist in surgeries, MRI's, x-rays and pre-season physicals. Partnerships have also been forged with many southern Indiana schools, such as Salem High School, West Washington High School, Eastern High School (Pekin, IN), Scottsburg High School, Austin High School, Jeffersonville High School, New Washington High School and Clarksville High School. As a precautionary measure, Jewish Hospital's Frazier Rehab Institute
Sports Medicine Program donated an Automatic External Defibrilator (AED)
to assist in any potential life-threatening situations. "We expect
this program to flourish over the next five years, and look forward to
strengthening the relationship between the two organizations," said
Jewish Hospital's Frazier Rehab Institute Sports Medicine Program is creating a stir in the region in which no other medical organization can compare. As the program continues to grow, we look forward to future partnerships.
