Lung

Jewish Hospital began its Lung Transplant Program in 1991. The first heart/lung transplant in Kentucky was performed in 1988 at Jewish Hospital, and the first double-lung transplant was performed in 1995.

Patients accepted as lung transplant candidates are listed with Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA), as well as nationally, with UNOS.

Our Lung Transplant team includes transplant surgeons, pulmonologists, transplant coordinators, psychiatrists, social workers, financial coordinators, medical consultants and administrators who work closely with the operating room, critical care and medical-surgical units at Jewish Hospital.
